San Jose, CA (March 18, 2008) - WYDE Voice, a new startup venture backed by Free Conferencing Corp. founder and CEO David Erickson, continues to build on its launch activities at Spring 2008 VON.x by announcing a partnership with VoodooVox, pioneering developers of In-Call Media™ and operators of the world's only In-Call Network™. Under the agreement, WYDE Voice will integrate a VoodooVox Server "plug-in" into its new turn-key, Asterisk®-based conferencing appliances that offer 16-bit, 16 kHz voice quality, allowing service providers to offer and monetize the growing use of VoIP-based teleconferencing solutions. "Working in partnership with VoodooVox, we are poised for double disruption by giving conferencing service providers the first 16-bit, 16 kHz voice appliances combined with the capability to monetize VoIP with VoodooVox's In-Call Network Exchange (ICNx), a feat that has eluded the industry -- until now," said Michael Eastman, Vice President of Global Sales for WYDE Voice. "We are offering the capability to conduct "business in a box" by enabling service providers to offer free VoIP conferencing while simultaneously driving incremental revenue with ad-supported messages." Leveraging the Asterisk platform, the new WYDE 16 kHz wideband voice solution enables service providers, universities, government agencies, and enterprises to deliver a broad range of affordable, high-quality audio conferencing solutions. The new WYDE Voice models offer carrier grade reliability and flexible call flow design in highly scalable units that can accommodate from 500 to 7000 concurrent G.711 callers, and up to 3000 16 bit/16 kHz iSAC callers - with incredible price performance starting at $160/port for the VM1000 model and $140/port for the VM3000. VoodooVox's ICNx is an international marketplace that brings together callers, advertisers, and call publishers to create the world's first ad-supported telephony market: In-Call Media. VoodooVox has developed a suite of messaging capabilities that advertisers can use for PR, advertising, marketing, promotions and more. In-Call Media is interactive audio that is dynamically served into call streams. Callers can opt in to more robust experiences while on hold, when interacting with an IVR (interactive voice response), or with numerous other routine calling situations. In-Call Media is now heard daily by millions of consumers in the call stream of the biggest calling card providers, major radio & TV stations, VoIP services, Voice 2.0 apps, and many other publishers. "We are excited to play an integral role in this market-changing launch that will leverage our ICNx to enable call publishers to bring their telephony applications to the network and instantly access a robust advertising market," said J. Scott Hamilton, CEO, VoodooVox. "Out of the box, we are adding instant value to the WYDE Voice conferencing appliances by giving real-time connectivity to our In-Call Network. To truly monetize VoIP, conferencing service providers receive a revenue share on ads served to their customers." VoodooVox's current roster of publishers generates 300 million calls per month, and the company expects that level to grow to 1 billion by mid-2008. According to Mr. Hamilton, a VoodooVox Server "plug-in" will be included with each WYDE Voice conferencing bridge - this allows for automatic connection to the VoodooVox In-Call ad network. "Our ICNx makes your calls immediately available to advertisers who are looking for audiences. The more call volume that is generated through the WYDE Voice appliance working in tandem with the VoodooVox plug-in, the more opportunities for service providers or their end customers - social networks, softphone developers, and more - to profit from this joint solution," he added. Depending on the conferencing service provider, the VoodooVox Server offers the ability to place a short audio ad, news item or music/audio ad combo before the start of a conference call. The caller can choose to interact with the experience by pressing the "9" key. Callers have the option of choosing to receive more information via SMS/MMS messages or can be transferred to an advertiser or its call center. Attendees of Spring 2008 VON.x can also receive more information about the WYDE Voice and VoodooVox partnership by visiting Booth #1238. Mr. Eastman will participate in panel discussions at VON sister conference Digium | Asterisk World titled Best Business Practices in Implementing Asterisk-based Open Source Telephony Solutions on March 18 at 11:15am. Mr. Hamilton and Gene Cohen, CTO of VoodooVox, will lead a session at the Spring VONCamp -- The Unconference titled Can Telephony Be Free? on March 18.
